Got Aqua? is based upon the twofold belief that the lack of access to safe drinking water is a leading cause of disease and poverty and together we can make a difference. Put simply, a child should not die every 20 seconds due to a water-related disease. We can do better.
Currently 1.1 billion people lack access to safe drinking water and 2.8 billion people lack access to basic sanitation. Half the world’s hospitalizations are due to people drinking contaminated water and each year almost 3.6 million people die due to water-related illness.
This global tragedy is only compounded by the fact that most of the victims year after year will be children under the age of 5.
The stark math is difficult to ignore: almost 6,000 children die every day from disease associated with lack of access to safe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene — the equivalent of 20 Boeing 747s or Airbus A380s crashing every day.
The time to act is now. Dirty water kills. An estimated 135 million people will die before 2020 because they lack safe drinking water and sanitation.

Clean drinking water is essential to life. The ancient Romans had access to better water quality than half the people alive today. We are a non-profit organization committed to calling attention to the global water crisis and helping local communities develop projects to deliver clean, safe and sustainable drinking water to children and their families located in India, Africa, and the Philippines. In the United States, our efforts are focused on bringing crucial water supplies to communities that have suffered natural disasters.
